Fmtex alte scandens. Santvli nigricaates, juniores fulvo-tomcutosi. Folte 5-8
poll, longa, S-3^ lata, petiolo £-poll., interdum ovalia vel lincari-oblonga, basi an-
gustata, rotuodata vel subcordata, utriuque secus nervos (subtus deusius) moiliter
pubescentia; pilis stellafts. Pedunculi abbrcviati, vis £-pollicares ; pedicelli dense
i'errugmeo-tomentosi, l-l-^-pollicares, medio bracteolaru ovalem vel obiongain ge-
reutes. Flares magni. Calyx rotundatus, ^-pollicaris, fulvo-toraentosus, nervosus.
Petala 6, pollicaria, fere rotuudata, obtusa, utrinque dense tomentosa, Stamina,
vvaria, et torus U. pu,rpure<B. Torus fructus dilatatua, subglobosus. Carpclla
2. poll, louga, pediccllo pollicari suffulta, carnosa, (sapcuc subdulci,} cinereo-tomen-
tosa. Seniina biserialia, oblonga, compressa ; testa fusca, nitida, l&vi.

Apparently a very distinct species. The fi'uit when dried ia v«7 like that of ft
rufa) Bluine, "which is represented with slightly projecting seeds. This seems, how-
ever, in onr species to be the result of drying, and we have no notes of the appear-
ance in a fresh state.
